Since mid-2024, Ennio Caironi has been creating a remarkable number of superb recordings for Fand, including much of the piano music of Bax and the complete keyboard music of Peter Thompson.
As Ennio has now created his first publication for Fand, an outstanding collection of Bax Songs Without the Words, he now has his own composer page on this site, and we have taken the opportunity to collect together on it all his recordings in one place. This page will be kept up to date with any future recordings that Ennio may produce; visit it for hours of superlative listening!
Excitingly, and coinciding with the launch of this new page, Ennio has supplied Fand with several world première recordings of piano music by Sir Granville Bantock. These recordings may be found exclusively on Ennio’s new page.
The world première performance of Peter Thompson’s Prelude for Orchestra: “Stress” was given on Sunday, 6th July 2025 in Huddersfield Town Hall by the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Katherine Stonham. The event was a ‘Last Night of the Proms’-style event entitled Let’s Get This Party Started!, and the Prelude was given top billing, opening the concert as a landmark first performance. The following recording captures the event and is followed by a few words of introduction from the conductor:
The performance came about thanks to the good offices of Richard Hallas, who typeset the score many years ago, and Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra’s David Robinson.

Pianist Ennio Caironi has recently done Fand the great service of providing us with recordings of a significant number of mostly very difficult piano pieces by Peter Thompson and Sir Arnold Bax. They are wonderful performances, too: all very well played and nicely recorded. Moreover, these are première recordings of most of the Thompson works. The pieces that Ennio has recorded are as follows, and they may be heard by following the links to the pages about the individual pieces, where a playback control may be found:
Several pieces of music published by Fand are to be performed in a fascinating concert near Cambridge towards the end of April. A Choral Concert with Church Bells is being held to celebrate the installation of two new bells in All Saints’ Church, Landbeach, augmenting the bell tower from four to six bells. A BBC News story has further details about the bells and their installation.
The concert is being performed by the St Augustine’s Singers, conducted by Philip Mead, and the programme will include two of Philip’s own compositions: Christmas Bells and The Nightingale – both with suitably adapted words – together with Richard Hallas’s arrangement of Suo Gân.

On behalf of Donald Bousted we are proud to announce news of, and are therefore delighted to promote, a recent recording: Barry Tone’s Fantastic Adventure.
This is a CD and download (issued October 2021) of premiere recordings for baritone ukulele, with and without recorder. The recording features the playing of Donald Bousted and Celia Ireland, and alongside works by Choan Gálvez, Gilbert Isbin, Jim Dalton and Martin Bright, features three new pieces by Fand composer Peter Thompson, written at the invitation of Donald Bousted in the lockdown spring of 2020.
